I had originally planned to host our run to the North East Victoria Silo Art Trail on Cup Day 2021, but my
Motafrenz’s first Boxing Day drive ever was a wonderful success with around 25 members and friends coming along with an array of very drivable vehicles, many being on club plates.
The idea of having a Boxing Day drive came after recovering from a full on COVID of a year and the prospect that there would be many people still around Melbourne the day after Christmas on what was seen by many as a ‘dead day’.
This event was developed by member Chris from Geelong. Chris’ idea was that with many legs, people could drop in and out as they did along the way, as there are many regional Motafrenz members that live way south west of Melbourne.
From the trusted and proven pre-meet place in Altona North, we headed down to Geelong on the Princes Freeway and our first stop was a visit to the Pickers Union and Geelong Vintage Markets Precinct antiques market.
That was fun as we pondered our youth and wondered why we threw out so much stuff that could be here and over priced. After that adventure, we made our way around the coast of Port Phillip to Indented Head to find a lovely big shady tree we could all picnic under for lunch.

The day started off at the Bunnings Carpark in Craigieburn, and to my disappointment, there was no After lunch and catchup we then headed down to Queenscliff Railway Station. From there we enjoyed a stroll down to the new harbour bank for a coffee and goodbyes. The sights here were certainly picturesque with so much to see and the cafes were great, many choosing fine ice cream to enjoy.

It was a lovely social drive and a very enjoyable day for all and a great way to end a year of more challenges than any of us could poke a proverbial stick at.
After such a successful and enjoyable day, we certainly intend making the Boxing Day drive a fixture of the Motafrenz event calendar.
Thank you to Chris for organising this event and thank you to all who came along and made this event a delightful and friendly day.
