Event Recap: ChillOut Barbeque 2019

Words by Joseph. Pictures by Philip.

March comes around very fast every year, this year was no exception. After the hype of Midsumma, Chillout was upon us. It really is one of my favourite events and one I hold dearly, given Chillout was my first experience with the club.

Once again, Motafrenz booked a house for the weekend. It was a filled quickly, which is a good sign that there is interest in this (and similar) events.

The weekend really was a relaxing one. Saturday a few members got together for a few social drinks on front lawn of Peppers with a band to entertain us. Mat and Phillip’s colourful rug was a nice touch that was the envy of others.

Sunday was a busy day, Motafrenz and associates met at Duke St ready to take part of the parade. Some drove up from Melbourne, starting the morning rather early. There was a diverse range of cars, old and new. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to see the parade this year. I slept in and then went shopping for the traditional Sunday dinner at the Motafrenz house.

Most cars proceeded to the showgrounds and joined the Motafrenz car display.

Unfortunately, the weather was rather ordinary- overcast with passing showers. Not only was the crowd a bit thin, but many stallholders also left early.

Dinner was pleasant, about 13 of us came together to share food, stories and a refreshment or two (the benefits of staying in the house!) I am glad to say my tiramisù was well received, which was nice ☺ Would you like to be part of the Motafrenz house next year? We are looking at option for next year- please get in touch with a committee member to express your interest.
