Event Recap: Show and Shine 2022

This year’s Show and Shine was hands down a fantastic day greatly enjoyed by all who attended, and an absolute testament to the very hard work and efforts by the committee, and all the attending members who put an enormous effort into this, the largest event that the club has seen in many years.

The result was a record attendance of vehicle numbers of circa ninety cars, and with all the various owners of the different marques proud to display and talk about their vehicles.

A diverse range of cars and bikes filled the Como Park lawn space, and even though the day was a little overcast, there were patches of sunshine, and thankfully for all those who had put so much effort into preparing their precious vehicles, no rain occured to spoil the day.

For the second year running, Motafrenz show and shine was opened to not only club members, but also those of affiliated LGBTQ clubs including Melbourne Motorcycle Tourers, Melbourne Car Gays, and to guests from the general public from other motoring clubs. As such it was highly attended by non-members which was great to see, and who were all made to feel welcome and included. The diversity of vehicles and especially attendees was certainly one of cohesion and inclusion, resulting in a particularly enjoyable, sociable, and friendly day for all.

Our club secretary, Gordon Campbell, had very thoughtfully provided a catered for barbecue which was cooked for all who had assisted in the running of the day, and very gratefully received.

As usual, the club ran an event raffle, and where, with the assistance of our younger volunteers, we managed to sell all the raffle tickets to an interested and appreciative crowd, which grew through the day to include onlookers, passers-by and curious spectators.

A special thank you must be made to Chris Q in particular, for all his efforts in the organisation of the event, and for supplying the magnificent trophies, as well as to all the committee members who worked tirelessly to assist and help in all manner of things from small to large, and in doing so, forging friendships and bonds with each other, and bringing the very special values of friendship, inclusion and camaraderie that is Motafrenz, to the fore.

Congratulations and thanks are in order for everyone that attended and made it the largest and arguably best Show and Shine the club has been able to present in many years. That it was so well attended and received by all, is a credit to the club and all involved.
