Event Recap: Warrnambool Motorsports Weekend 2022

Words by Chris Quirke

A small group of enthusiasts made up of members and a couple of new faces to the club made the trek down to Warrnambool for the weekend over the 26th and 27th of Feb.

We travelled in convoy via the princes highway, and then turning off at the tractor wreckers at Stonyford and made a b line towards Cobden. A quick pitstop for lunch and to stretch our legs and we set off again for the southwest township of Allansford, right in the heart of our dairy districts.

The group checked into our airbnb, a well staged 3 bedroom home on the north side of the highway, before making our way down to the Warrnambool Motor Museum. Set in the old Fletcher Jones building right below the silver ball, the centre featured mostly motorsports vehicles.

Our next stop was Premier Speedway back in Allansford, this high banked clay oval track provided a good 6 hours of entertainment from a variety of racing classes. We were placed well to see the whole track from our seating position, as we were only a few meters back from the safety fence we were up close to the action!

Sunday morning we took advantage of the local hospitality and visited Toto cafe in town.
The weather Sunday was sunny and without any wind, it made for a relaxing drive home.
