MEET: BP Service Station Nepean Hwy &, North Rd corner, Brighton East VIC 3187
DESCRIPTION: This cruise is to one of Melbourne’s best Fish and Chip shops which is located in the Seaford Shopping strip on Nepean Hwy. WE will follow the coastline from Brighton to Seaford with a stop off at Ricketts Point in Beaumaris on the way for bay views and photographs. Once in Seaford, there are many excellent takeaway food shops and an ice cream parlour, not to mention a beautiful beach, jetty and sunset. Parking on the beachside is ticketed. There are many other fish and chip shops here that deep fry all frozen stuff. This fish and chip shop is a genuine Greek Fish and Chip shop where they make their own chips, potato cakes and cook fresh fish not to mention proper souvlakis and hamburgers and salads . Alternatively you’re welcome to bring your own food and drinks or choose one of the many other takeaway shops.
Sunset in Seaford Wednesday, 14 October 2022 (AEDT) is at 7:36 pm. We should be ready to enjoy the sunset looking west over the bay from the Seaford jetty while fighting off the seagulls as we enjoy our food.
DIRECTIONS: From the meeting place at the BP service station on the corner of Nepean Hwy and North Rd, we’ll be heading west towards the beach on North Rd and then turn left at the end into St Kilda Street which becomes Beach Road. From here we follow the coast line with a stop off for a short stop at Ricketts Point Beaumaris for a short break and photo opportunity. It is ticketed parking so we won’t leave our cars for long.
When we leave Ricketts Point, we continue along the coast on Beach Road into Mordialloc and turn right at the Nepean Hwy roundabout to cross Mordialloc Creek and continue along the coast on Nepean Hwy into Seaford.
There is free parking behind the Seaford shops and along Nepean Hwy. Beach side car parking is ticketed. Hopefully we can enjoy a beautiful sunset over Port Phillip with fish and chips or whatever other takeaway food you choose from the many options.
BACKGROUND: We call them DATA events for short (Drive And Take Away). DATA evening drives are back on the calendar after the first one some 23 months ago followed by a few civil disruptions. This will be one of many cruises to a takeaway food venue for a general catch up and enjoyment much like Cheap Eats was; however DATA events/drives will be occurring nearly each month at various locations around Melbourne making them accessible to most members hopefully. This DATA was the first of many cruises years ago and we’ll be recycling a few known good ones until we find members with fresh ideas who would like to lead one with the support of the Events Team of course.
