Join us for an informative day touring the RAAF Museum at the historic RAAF Williams-Point Cook, the birthplace of aviation in Australia; the environmentally important Point Cook Coastal Park; and the locally significant Point Cook Homestead.
The RAAF Museum is a Unit of the Royal Australian Air Force, and houses the country’s largest collection of military aircraft. The museum has recently reopened after the completion of important infrastructure works that aim to improve visitor accessibility, as well as significant new exhibition installations across the precinct to enhance the visitor experience.
The Point Cook Coastal Park provides feeding areas for many birds. Various shorebird species can be seen at low tide on the mudflats or taking shelter within the trees and wetlands. Today we will emulate these birds and stop here for lunch.
The Point Cook Homestead was the original home of Thomas and Andrew Chirnside, the builders of the mansion at Werribee Park. We will have time to explore the homestead and its grounds, and the nearby viewing tour.

WHEN: Sunday 15 October 2023
TIME: 10am for 10:30am departure
MEET: Aircraft Train Station at the intersection of Aviation Rd and Railway Ave, Laverton. Just off the M1 Princes Fwy, or from Flinders St on the Werribee Line.
BRING: Photo ID is required for entry onto the RAAF base. Bring your own drinks for lunchtime.
SUITS: All vehicle types.
PETS: Parks Victoria and the Department of Defence will allow only access for assistance dogs.
COST:
Motafrenz Members: $5/Non-members $10.
Price includes coffee and a light morning snack, a barbecue lunch (please advise of dietary requirements), all entry fees, and an afternoon snack.
RSVP: Essential by 10 October.
SMOKERS: Smoking is no longer permitted on Defence establishments.
