Australia's oldest and largest car club for the GLBTIQ community
WHEN: Sunday 5 February 2023
TIME: March kicks off at 11am but we need those attending to march or drive for registration at 9am.
MEET: Ian Johnson Oval Cnr. Lakeside Drive and Fitzroy St
DESTINATION: Catani Gardens at the end of the march
DETAILS: Pride March commences at 11:00am. Motafrenz has been playing an important part of Pride March since its conception. Pride March continues to be a very important part of the LGBTIQA+ community and remains a very important representation of our values of acceptance and diversity. We hope you will join us.
For marchers, plan your Travel: It’s a big event and there’s virtually no parking nearby. Fitzroy Street will be closed to traffic between 8am and 4.30pm approximately. Additionally, trams will not be travelling down Fitzroy Street between 10.30am and 2.30pm
RSVP: Marchers: This will help know who’s marching with the Motafrenz vehicles. Vehicles in March: You will have to have registered with events@motafrenz.org.au will in advance.
BRING: Sun protection, water and comfortable footwear. Plenty of fluids. A sun umbrella or large brimmed hat is recommended to keep you from cooking.
MARCHERS: Will assemble on the oval in advance and hopefully will be group catching up with the cars as they enter. Marchers will need to be registered which is why you need to turn up early so a representative can get you wristbands
VEHICLES: Only those already approved for the march or good shoes to march with the cars. An essential requirement for all drivers is to attend the briefing and to be there on the day with your vehicle from 9am to 10.00am parked in Lakeside Drive east bound/facing towards Fitzroy Street. If you turn up late you will find it difficult to park your vehicle where it needs to be in our group. This often leads to having to shunt many cars from our group and others to fit in. We are used to in recent years being able to park and display our Pride March vehicles in the Catani Gardens at the bottom of Fitzroy Street however there is no guarantee this will happen and we have to go with what we’re allowed to do in a public assembly situation.
PETS: On lead but not advised as it can be a hot and long day
COST: Free
