Come enjoy a quiet weekend up in the mountains at Rawson and historic Walhalla. We’ll be staying at Rawson Village and visiting Walhalla for the day. We’ll be going on a few short walks, take a tour on the historic railway and mine, and have dinner at the Wally pub.
EVENT: Rawson/Walhalla Weekend (Grand Final Long Weekend)
WHEN: Friday 23 September to Sunday 25 September 2021
TIME: 10:00am, Friday 23 September 2021, departing 10:30am.
MEET: BP Officer (outbound), 65 Princes Freeway, Officer.
DESTINATION: Rawson Village (near Walhalla).
Accommodation: We’ll be staying at the Mountain Rivers Motel in Rawson. We’ll have the whole motel and exclusive use of the shared kitchen and common room. Costs TBA
Day 1: On the first day we’ll drive to Thompson Dam for a picnic lunch, followed by a short walk at the dam. Then check into the motel and wander around Rawson with some free time before heading to the Rawson Stockyard Hotel for dinner. Those that want to can take a drive to Walhalla for a preview.
Day 2: Walhalla. Spend the day in picturesque Walhalla with a walk up to the Cricket Oval and cemetery, trip on the historic goldfield railway and tour of the long tunnel mine and meander around town and into the museums before dinner at the Wally Pub.
Day 3: A nice relaxing day with a bit of a sleep-in then head back via Trafalgar. We’ll stop in at Trafalgar Holden Museum, then lunch in Trafalgar before heading back so everyone can get home. Or hang around longer before heading back.

ROADS: Mixed. Mainly sealed, but there will be some unsealed roads on day trips (can jump in with others and leave your classic at the motel).
PETS: Sorry, no pets
COST: Approximately $150 for two nights accommodation, steam train and mine tour. Plus cost of lunch and dinner for two days, Holden Museum $10/15, other spending money
